From January to June, there were 1720 batches and 132,000 cubic meters of imported logs inspected and quarantined at Jiaxing Port, which increased by 117.7% and 78.4% respectively compared with the same period last year. The imported timber species and origins at Jiaxing Port are relatively diversified, mainly oak, hickory, aquamarine, white wax, Acacia lobularis, cherry, dyed red sandalwood, etc. Its origins are mainly from dozens of countries and regions such as the United States, France, Germany, Belgium, Tanzania and so on.
Since 2017, the economic development momentum of the Yangtze River Delta has been good, and the demand for timber has continued to be strong, which has promoted the high growth of imported logs at Jiaxing Port. With the increase of imported logs, the invasion risk of foreign forestry pests also increases.
