Although Borneol does not belong to the "embryonic plant", and only one seed in each fruit, it will begin to germinate and grow roots on the tree, grow to a certain extent, and leave the mother tree. When it falls, two propeller-like fins play the role of parachute, so that the seeds with roots are inserted directly into the soil. This phenomenon of germination before fruit falling shows that it has excellent adaptability to the local living environment.
Borneol fragrance produces resin with oil yield of 0.06-1.0%. It has strong fragrance and can be used as perfume. If a small pit is made on the trunk with an iron chisel and a little fire is used, it will burn up immediately. In a few minutes, the oil in the trunk will drip and drip down, and soon it will be full of pits. The monks of the Dai monastery in Xishuangbanna regard borneol incense as a "divine tree" and "treasure in the tree". They often use this oil to light the "evergreen lamp" in front of the Buddha. They also use this oil to boil the "holy medicine" of the Dai family, which is also known as "ambergris", and it is said that saliva from the mouth of the dragon is condensed and can cure all diseases.
Borneol is a typical landmark tree species in tropical areas, originating in Myanmar, but introduced and cultivated in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, has a good growth, which fully proves that Xishuangbanna is a real tropical area with a real tropical rainforest.
