     Description:

Chinese Name: Pick Yamu
Foreign Name: Keranji
Also known as: Teak King, Nanyang Red Sandalwood
Local names: Keranji (Sarawak code KERJ, Malaysia, Sabah, Nepal, India), Khleng (Indonesia), Kcranji kuning Besar (Malaysia), Kralanh (Cambodia),
Irregular name: Nanyang Red Sandalwood Teak King Pick Yamu, commonly known as Teak King, Horsetail Teak, Nanyang Red Sandalwood, also known as Dari Bean, Leguminosae (LEGUMINOSAE) Subfamily of Sambucus (CAESAIPINIOIDEAE) Pick Yamu (DIALIUM) species of commercial wood name.
There are more than 40 species in this genus, distributed in Southeast Asia, tropical America and Africa, such as Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sarawak, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Gabon, Cameroon, Zaire, Congo, Angola, Madagascar and other countries.
Bark: 1.0-1.5 cm thick, hard, not easy to remove. The outer coat is gray-white or grayish-brown; easy to fall off in small pieces with shallow pits on the surface; dense small round holes. The endothelium is reddish brown or dark brown; stone cells are abundant, granular and wavy. Cross section: Heart sapwood has obvious difference. Heartwood reddish-brown to dark-brown, with dark concentric circles and fine lines. The sapwood is light yellow. The growth rings are slightly visible.
The wood is loose-porous and the heartwood is light golden-brown when newly cut, but turns deep after a long time. It is brown or reddish-brown, which is different from sapwood.
Obviously, when sapwood was newly cut, it was white, turned light brown for a long time in the atmosphere, the growth ring was not obvious, the holes were slightly visible to the naked eye, mostly single holes, sparse cracks like holes, few or even slightly small, medium-sized, containing light-colored sediments. Wood has strong luster, no special odor and taste, interlaced texture or wavy shape, fine to medium structure, slightly uniform, heavy to very hard wood; high strength, slow drying, wood cracking tendency when drying; corrosion resistance; slightly difficult sawing, blunt sawing tendency when sawing; sharpener should be good; wood cutting ability is good, glue stickiness may be even.
The difference between heartwood and sapwood is obvious. Heartwood reddish-brown to dark-brown, with dark concentric circles and fine lines. The sapwood building is yellow. The growth rings are slightly visible. Thickness 1,0-1.5 cm, hard, not easy to peel off. The outer coat is gray-white or grayish-brown; easy to fall off in small pieces, with no pits on the surface: dense round orifices. The endothelium is reddish brown or dark brown; stone cells are abundant, granular and sloping. 乔木,高25m左右,胸径约0.61-n。 There are about 40 species of this genus, which are distributed in tropical America, tropical Africa, Madagascar and Southeast Asia, of which there are about 16 species in Southeast Asia. Imports of miscellaneous wood in Malaysia are often found in small quantities.
Interlaced texture, slightly fine structure; heavy and hard quality; high strength, dry shrinkage. Sawing slightly difficult, smooth cut surface; strong nail grip; good adhesive hinge. Slightly resistant to decay. Slow drying, easy to crack. The air-dry density is 0.60-1.l2g/cm.
Porous material. Under the tube-hole magnifier, it is obvious, slightly small and medium in size; it is mainly single-tube-hole, and a few diameter-row multiple-tube-holes (2-5, mostly 2-3); it contains reddish-brown gum and white sediments. Axial parenchyma is visible, well developed, densely linear and evenly distributed, forming a grid with wood rays. It is slightly visible under a wood-ray magnifier, dense and very narrow.
As one of the valuable hardwood furniture and floor decoration materials, picking Yamu is often used to replace acid branch wood to make traditional hardwood furniture in furniture manufacturing industry, and is favored by consumers (Dari bean and acid branch wood have similar wood structure and appearance). If not carefully observed, the two are easily confused. In the domestic timber market, "Dari Bean" wood name comes from the transliteration of DIALI in the name of DIALIUM. (The original book "Southeast Asian Wood" was translated as "Dari Euphorbia". Now, because the commercial wood of Euphorbia belongs to persimmon tree family with black heartwood tree species, in order to distinguish it from this kind of wood, it is changed to leguminosae. In the wood flooring market, imported wood "Keranji KERANJI" refers to some Asian tree species produced in Southeast Asia. Its main tree species are D. COCHINCHINENSIS and D. PLATYSEPALUM. Wood surface and chord section are spinning and corrugated. Axial parenchyma is densely linear and evenly distributed, forming a grid with wood rays. There are 40 species in this genus. The wood color and density are very different. The lightest suitable D-modeslum is 0.6 g/cm in density. The heaviest Vietnamese picking density can reach 1.12 g/cm.
